Processing DEM data

Input: About 8000 individual gzipped files organized alphabetically by quadrangle name
Output: Twelve database files organized by UTM zone
Problem: Clients cannot write directly to database files without write conflicts
Solution: Client-Server
- Parallel clients process gzipped files;
- Server on master writes to database files;
- Clients talk to server with TCP connections;
- Master queues writes to database files
